Wanted: Treasure and Fame
A fire beetle has two fiery glands that continue to glow for 1d12 hours after the beetle’s death; these can be removed and used as torches. It takes an determinant amount of time for the fire glands to become filled with their burning bile, something they can project as a weapon.
- The ones found in the Abandoned Mine were augmented. Although still natural, the naturally fire creatures had been grown to also produce cold. Their spit produced both heat & frost, not commonly found compatible. The glands were visible through the shells, and did make it easier to determine when their elemental mixture was ready. Their shells had become brittle and looked like ice. When destroyed, the shell shattered, leaving only the fiery/cold glands remaining. It was discovered that these were at least 3rd or 4th generation beetles, meaning the differences were somehow naturally part of its evolution near the white dragon.
